District publications establish the dates

We use official district academic calendars, calendar webpages, board documents and relevant district announcements. When the district publishes a separate early-childhood or campus schedule, that document applies to its identified students rather than automatically to everyone.

The source list under About This Calendar links to the materials supporting the record. Our printable PDF is a planning copy of the dates we organize; it is separate from the district’s original document.

Choosing between versions

We check the school year, student group, revision notes and any approval information before choosing a source. A current calendar linked by the district is stronger evidence than an unrelated copy or a search snippet. An older board attachment should not override a later district revision that replaces it.

A document is not necessarily controlling just because it is newer. A campus notice may change one group’s attendance without replacing the districtwide calendar. Where official materials remain inconsistent, we retain the uncertainty or leave the detail unresolved instead of inventing a confirmed date.

What we bring into the family calendar

We focus on information that helps families plan the school year.

  • First and last student days, including grade-specific starts.
  • Student holidays, named breaks and confirmed days without classes.
  • Early dismissals, half days, late starts and remote instruction when published.
  • Conferences and other family-relevant dates with a clear student scope.
  • Emergency make-up possibilities and the conditions affecting the year’s end.

What a summary does not replace

We do not reproduce every line of a staff calendar or assume an event stops classes. Board meetings, payroll entries and internal deadlines are outside the family calendar. A grading-period boundary does not itself mean a day off or a report-card release.

Key Dates, Other Important Dates and the monthly lists serve different purposes. A detail can be useful in the monthly calendar without belonging among the main holidays. A page does not need a fixed number of questions or extra text to make its dates useful.

Official dates and calculated planning periods

Official identifies a district-published schedule; it is not a claim of affiliation or a guarantee that a conditional date will happen. We do not publish projected years to fill missing coverage, and unpublished working records are not offered as public calendars.

Calculations may help explain a return date or a longer period including weekends. Such a period is distinct from the district’s named break. An explicitly stated break spanning two month grids remains an official range; the layout alone does not make its dates estimated.

Illinois identity and browsing regions

Illinois State Board of Education records help distinguish similarly named districts and separate elementary, high school and unit districts. District identity data does not establish a local calendar date.

Our regional groups organize the directory. They are not attendance boundaries or official education service areas. Verify school assignment directly with the district.

Updates and corrections

Sources can be replaced after our review. Last updated identifies changes to our page and should not be read as the district’s approval date. Check the district’s calendar page and latest notices when a date matters.

Use Report a Correction on the calendar page or email corrections@ilschoolcalendar.com. Include our page URL, the district, school year, relevant campus or program, the disputed date and a supporting district link. We review that evidence before changing the calendar.
