About McLean County Unit District No. 5

Unit 5's seven scheduled early-release days are half days for K-12, but Early Learning students have no classes. Elementary students are dismissed at 10:45 a.m., junior high students at 11:45 a.m. and high school students at 11:30 a.m. Transportation is provided, along with breakfast and grab-and-go lunches. The shortened days also give staff time for professional development and collaboration.

On Thursday, April 15, K-12 students have early release while Pre-K has no classes. All students are off Friday, April 16 for an institute day. Students also have two consecutive weekdays off in February: Presidents' Day on February 15 and an institute day on February 16.

Thanksgiving break runs November 25-27, 2026. Winter break is December 21 through January 1; an institute day on January 4 means students return January 5. Spring break is March 22-26, 2027, and classes resume Monday, March 29.
