About Barrington Community Unit School District 220

Barrington 220 moved the 2026 start to August 18 when it approved a full week off for Thanksgiving after a family survey. Grades 1-12+ start that Tuesday; Early Childhood and kindergarten begin Thursday, August 20. Thanksgiving Break runs November 23-27, with classes scheduled to resume November 30.

Four dates are half days for K-12+ students: September 30, 2026; February 3, March 18 and April 7, 2027. Students at the Early Learning Center (ELC) do not attend on these dates. Elementary schools dismiss at 11:15 a.m., middle schools at 12:07 p.m., and Barrington High School and BTP at 11:45 a.m. On regular Wednesdays, elementary and middle schools and the ELC afternoon session follow a separate early-release schedule.

Conferences do not always mean a day off. PK-8 students attend school October 14 and March 17, even though conferences are scheduled. Students have no classes October 15-16 or March 19; March 18 is a K-12+ half day, with no ELC attendance. Spring Break follows March 22-26, and classes are scheduled to resume March 29.
