Highlighted dates follow the published calendar; grouped or inferred entries are labelled. Today is determined in Central Time (America/Chicago).
Students have no classes on November 2, 2026, for parent-teacher conferences or November 3 for the General Election holiday observed in lieu of Veterans Day. November 11 is a separate professional development day without student classes. During Thanksgiving week, November 23–25 are days without students or teachers in school, followed by the Thanksgiving holidays on November 26–27. Classes resume Monday, November 30.
After winter vacation, which runs December 21 through January 1, students do not return on Monday, January 4. That is a professional development day, so classes resume Tuesday, January 5. Quarter 2 ends January 22. Spring break is March 22–26, with students back on March 29. April 6 is a separate professional development day, and April 12 is a parent-teacher conference day; neither is part of spring break.
CPS lists different start and end dates for K–12 and Pre-K. K–12 begins August 24 and finishes June 11, both full school days, while Pre-K runs August 25 through June 10. High school graduation ceremonies cannot take place before May 28, and elementary ceremonies cannot take place before June 7; each school sets its own ceremony date. June 15–17 and June 21–22 are reserved emergency make-up days, not a scheduled extension of classes.
