About School District U-46

Classes begin August 19, 2027, for U-46 students, with preschool starting August 26. In the fall, October 11 is a school holiday and October 29 is an institute day with no student classes. Students also have the entire Thanksgiving week off: November 22-24 are non-attendance days, followed by Thanksgiving recess on November 25 and 26. Classes resume Monday, November 29.

Winter recess begins December 20 and continues through December 31, with classes resuming January 3, 2028. Later that month, students are off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 17 and an institute day on January 18. They return Wednesday, January 19.

Spring recess runs March 27-31, and students return April 3. The spring holiday on April 14 is a separate day off. Families should also keep April 28 flexible: U-46 lists it as an institute day unless it is needed for emergency make-up instruction. The district will need to confirm whether students are expected to attend.
