About School District U-46

U-46 starts the 2028-2029 school year on August 17, with preschool beginning August 24. Students have no classes on November 6 and 7 for institute days. Later that month, they are off for the entire Thanksgiving week, November 20-24. The first three days are designated non-attendance days, followed by Thanksgiving recess on November 23 and 24. Classes resume Monday, November 27.

Winter recess runs from December 25, 2028, through January 5, 2029. Classes are still scheduled for December 18-22, so families should keep that week in mind when planning holiday travel. Students return Monday, January 8.

Spring recess is March 26-30, 2029, but students won't return immediately afterward. The spring holiday falls on Monday, April 2, followed by an election-day institute on April 3. Classes resume Wednesday, April 4, giving students 11 consecutive days without classes when weekends are included. April 27 is also scheduled as an institute day, although it may become an emergency make-up day.
